About Peace During the Storm

Several Years Ago, God Gave Me A Vision:

“I was standing in a field with Jesus by my left side when I noticed a tornado coming straight for us. I wanted to get out of its path, but Jesus placed His hands on my shoulders, and He wouldn’t let me move. He forced me to face the storm head on. Violent wind and debris soon swirled all around us.  Then, after a few intense moments, the storm moved on.

After the twister, I reflected on what really happened inside that storm.  Even though Jesus forced me to face the tornado, He held me in place, so I didn’t get sucked up. He didn’t allow any debris to hurt me. He also never left my side, He was with me the entire time.  His presence kept me at peace.”

We can compare this vision to several trials in our lives. Sometimes we cannot avoid life’s storms. We get forced into their destructive path to face them head-on.

But despite everything we are going through, we are never alone. Jesus is always by our side.  He never abandons us.

Throughout my life’s struggles, I often wondered where God was and why He didn’t stop certain things from happening. From my standpoint, many traumatic events seemed downright cruel!  But it was when I hit rock bottom in 2010 that I cried out, “WHY DID ALL THESE THINGS HAPPEN TO ME?!?!”.

In my brokenness, I expected my cry to fall on deaf ears; but instead I received an immediate, unexpected response. God’s presence filled the room, and I felt His love, warmth, grace and forgiveness. He became very real to me, and He showed me His perspective and purpose for the storms He forced me to endure. He gave me hope and direction for my future. I knew I could trust Him, and for the first time in my life I found a peace that surpassed all understanding. I haven’t been the same since.

PURPOSE:

The purpose of Peace During the Storm is to draw you closer to God so you can see His perspective during your life’s storms.  When you step back to view things from His perspective, you can find His peace despite the chaos raging around you.

Peace During the Storm will use these things to help you find His perspective:

Storm & Night Sky Photography

Storm photography serves as a “perspective reminder”.  As a storm photographer, I can tell you it’s impossible to take a decent photo in the middle of a storm. Everything is gray and rain limits visibility. Raindrops speckle the camera lens. It’s windy, and sometimes downright dangerous to be outside. However, if I distance myself from the storm, and then look back, my eyes see it from another perspective. I am in awe of God’s power, and I can capture the beauty of the storm. The same goes with life. We need to step back from our “life storms” and view them from a unique perspective… God’s perspective. We need to view His full picture, and not just the single pixel in front of us.  He is up to something good, and He will accomplish it through your storm:

“And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.”  Romans 8:28 (AMP)

Night sky photography also serves as a perspective reminder.  Have you ever been humbled as you gaze into the night sky? God created things far beyond what our eyes can see and our minds can imagine.  This type of photography reminds us how big our God is and how small we are. Since He knows everything, and is the only One to have set a universe into motion, who’s perspective should we be seeking? That my friends is a simple answer.
